Charles E. Monteith

Since entering private practice in 2004, Charles (“Chuck”) E. Monteith, Jr. has focused primarily on the representation of North Carolina employees in work-related matters.  Chuck, a native North Carolinian, has represented clients throughout North Carolina in matters concerning breach of employment contracts, covenants not to compete, employment discrimination, unemployment benefits and the State Personnel Act.  Following his graduation from law school, Chuck began employment with the Employment Security Commission (now “Division of Employment Security”)

as an Appeals Referee.  During his twenty-four year tenure with the Employment Security Commission, Chuck also held the positions of Chief Appeals Referee, Staff Attorney, and Deputy Chief Counsel.

Chuck graduated from the University of North Carolina in 1977 and the UNC School of Law in 1980.  Chuck is admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of North Carolina.  He is also admitted to practice before the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Chuck has two adult children and resides in Cary, North Carolina.  His interests include playing basketball and sci-fi novels.

Shelli Henderson Rice

Since entering private practice in 2005, Shelli Henderson Rice has focused primarily on the representation of  North Carolina employees in work-related matters.  Shelli has represented clients throughout the state of North Carolina in matters concerning unlawful discrimination and infringement on civil rights, disputes over unpaid wages, breach of contract cases, unemployment insurance hearings, and contested cases involving state employees.

Shelli, a native of Atlanta, Georgia, graduated Washington & Lee University in 1998 and the University Of Miami School Of Law in 2001.  Shelli was employed by the Employment Security Commission (now “Division of Employment Security”) prior to entering private practice.  During her tenure with the Employment Security Commission, Shelli presided over appeals hearings and then later reviewed hearings of other Appeals Referees and Hearing Officers on appeal to the Commission and issued thousands of decisions based on these appeals.  In 2004, Shelli was awarded the Chairman’s Award for Excellence in Outstanding State Government Service.

Shelli and her two pugs reside in Raleigh, North Carolina.  Her interests include trail running and triathlons.
